Have you seen "Everything"?

Just want to share an drama I directed at Venice-Santa Monica Free Methodist Church for their 2008 Easter on March 29. This "Everything" drama (score by Lifehouse) has been done before but is as moving as any others. It was a joy to work with such a dedicated and talented cast. I was blessed by it. I hope you are, too.

I'VE TURNED PIANO PLAYING INTO A SIN!!!

Forgive me, Lord, but ever since I got my Mother's Day gift on Thursday, every chance I get, I go and play on my new Yamaha Disklavier C7 grand piano, a Rolls Royce to a TR4 piano hack like me. Whether I'm playing a Mark Hayes hymn arrangement, improvising, or mangling Beethoven's Pathetique, the range of dynamics, the power of the bass, and the tinkling of the higher treble is quite thrilling. How softly can I play, how loud--I don't think I've reached the limits of this exquisite machine--and that's just the manual part. There's the computer part I haven't even explored yet. And I can bang away in silent mode late into the night while the boys soundly sleep undisturbed in the next room. Amazing. It's much too nice an instrument for me but I graciously accept my husband's very generous gift. I think he really loves me!

The Easter Story Video Clip

Here's a clip of "The Easter Story" drama we did at Venice-Santa Monica Free Methodist's Easter Service on April 4, 2010. The play begins with Daughter, an unbeliever, visiting Mom in the hospital and Doctor comes in to give them the news that Mom doesn't have much time. Son, a believer, enters just in time to hear. Daughter is distraught, lashes out at Son, and dashes out of the room. (Daughter is the one wearing a green sash and the lady wearing red is Prayer Warrior. I'm Singer 2, on the left) The clip starts with Mom reminding Son the reason why she is not worried by sharing the story she often told her kids...one last time. (For more details, see previous blog)

So, here's the question we all need to contemplate--do you know your eternal destiny? Do you know that Jesus loves you so very much that He wants to save your life?

"The Easter Story" - multimedia drama

For Easter 2010, I had the privilege of writing, directing, singing and working with a terrific cast and crew for Venice-Santa Monica Free Methodist Church's Easter drama. Using The Easter Song written by Doug Woo, video slides edited by Katsuya Omine, with live-action present-day drama juxtaposed with the a depiction of the Resurrection story, the power of Christ's salvation comes to life. Thanks to Kathy Sekine for these photos.

Scene from "JOURNEY OF A PAPER SON"

A dramatic short film by Ming Lai.

Working on PAPER SON was meaningful not only because it educates us of the consequences of Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 but how it effected my own family's beginnings in the United States. My father's family had sponsored a paper son and my mother's father was a paper son. In this scene, my character reacts to her father wanting to change his "paper" last name to his birth last name.

Clip 3 from "Engaged"

A comedic short film by Dean Miyahira

My character has created a masterpiece with trash and waxes eloquently, . . . or at least waxes.
